Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing practice, which my students can’t wait to take part in.
It is not an active practice, but a receptive one where you are held in poses with the assistance of supporting props, like blankets, pillows, blocks, for five to as long as twenty minutes.
The slow pace and deep breathing triggers the parasympathetic nervous system mitigating the effects of stress, calming the body and mind down to the cellular level. It can help to restore muscle pains from any type of active practice or created by everyday life challenges.
